Souvenir Shopping at the Supermarket
~barb
One of my favorite things to do on vacation is to stop at Supermarkets or at least browse in them. I will go up and down every aisle looking at the different types of foods, products and containers.
A few years ago my son complained to someone on vacation. He said "most people get to buy their souvenirs at souvenir shops, not my mom -- she buys her souvenirs at the supermarkets"!
When we were on a cruise in the Western Caribbean, Roatan Honduras was one of the stops. It was a very strange stop, absolutely no tourism was there -- just a few stands set up near where the ship docked.
Several of the family took a sightseeing tour of the island. Just a few blocks from the ship area was the only "commerical" area we saw. One was a small supermarket, probably about the size of a large Seven Eleven in the states. As the sightseeing van drove by -- in the window were stacks of cookie jars and CHRISTMAS jars at that. This was in a very hot July! After our tour was over, everyone knew were I was headed. Yep, I went to the supermarket just to take a picture of the jars if nothing else!
