    Crumbs from my jar....
Welcome to our three new subscribers! All past newsletters are available on the archive page, see link on the left.

One of the changes coming up is the need to help pay for the cost of sending out this free newsletter, etc. Beware that a few ads MAY appear and even a special edition or two might be sent. If this offends you, I am sorry, but costs do add up.

So I am looking for folks interested in sponsoring this newsletter? Dealer? Manufacturer? Selling a few special jars and want to get the word out with a direct link? Get your messages out about new jars or collectibles with links direct to your products or auction. Find out more about helping get the word out to jar collectors, please email me at barbcrews@thecookiejar.net.

Life continues to be crazy around here and I predict this will be a summer I'll remember for a very long time, much of it for reasons I refuse to put in print. ~vbg~ I'll probably need the month of September to recover from it all! Many e-mailed me about the New York question, and yes, son Jim is moving to New York City next week. We're very proud of him, he'll be working for a large advertising agency doing digital media planning, but we're really going to miss seeing him on a regular basis. On the upside, it does mean we'll have someone to visit and I hope to go up several times a year. We live in Oklahoma, but (many years ago) I grew up in Brooklyn. So although it's changed a lot, I know it will be great to get up there more often.

Now, let's get to the jar and auction news!
    until next time,
    ~barb

    Cookie Jar Club Reunion!
Is full steam ahead! There are hundreds of dealers at the Buchanan Shows and most of the dealers will be aware that the Cookie Jar Folks will be at the show. What does that mean? It can mean a few hidden treasures showing up. If you want to set up to sell jars with the club, you must belong to the club ($10.) and you should sign up pretty soon. Buchanan's is holding some space for us, but will probably release the extra spaces during the month of August. Sign up before then.

The club has not designated any hotels as the "official" hotel or motel. Why? There are numerous hotels in the area, most of them are on the trolley route that takes you to the downtown tourist area, the National Memorial, etc. And we will not be using the hotel for any of the events, therefore -- nothing has been designated. IF you need help in finding a place, let me know and someone will be getting back to you. Oklahoma is one of the lower cost of living states, so rooms, car rentals, etc are very reasonable.

    Hallmark Cookie Jar/Ornament
When I finally got a chance to see the new ornaments, I was really disappointed in the Angel jar (in the cookie jar series). I guess I want my cookie jar ornaments to look like a cookie jar and this one didn't. It was a nice angel, but didn't do a thing for me and I didn't buy it. I MIGHT get it, if I see it on the 1/2 off table, but that would be the only way.

But Hallmark did have a special red round Disney Mickey Mouse jar that was/is available for $4.99 if you buy two Disney ornaments. It's been showing up on eBay and I'll have pictures of it online soon.

    Mickelson Auction Center
Mickelson's Auction Center is hosting the Charlie Snyder jar auction this coming weekend. The ACJA has planned a get-together at the Golden Corral in Harrisonville, Missouri about ten miles away from Freeman. I have only heard from a very few that are planning to show up and rather than "cancel" it, I am hoping more will show up.

UNFORTUNATELY, I will not be able to attend the auction, we are having a family get-together, good-bye party for my son who just found out he is leaving for NYC the next week. If you're going to the auction, think about eating at the Golden Corral on Friday night and meeting with other collectors. Plan on showing up at 6:30 - 7:00.
    Mickelson Auction House

    Mikkelson Realty and Auctioneers
How confusing is this name? This auction house is in Minnesota and will be having an auction on August 1, 2004. Pictures and list of jars, as well as other collectibles for sale, are shown on their web site.

Ron Lee and Winnie the Pooh
I'm not sure if I ever mentioned the Ron Lee/Winnie the Pooh figure, but the LE figurine is for sale on the Disney Auction site. I'm still "out" on whether to get it, but it is pretty cute and if you're a Pooh collector, take a peek of him trying to balance a few cookie jars as he gets ready for a late night snack!
    eBay Auction

    McCoy Pottery Auctions
Did you know there was a new kid in town? An auction site devoted to McCoy Pottery alone? Find out more about it from McCoyPottery.Com's webmaster, Jeremy Kinsey. Best of all, the auctions are continually monitored for fakes.

    Holiday Jars
Even though my holiday jars are threatening to take over my advertising collection and I have vowed to slow down a LOT, there are always a few jars that are must-haves. If you're a dealer and have some special favorites or a collector who has found something terrific -- LET ME KNOW! The next few months promise to be very busy for me and I won't be able to keep up as much as I normally do. AND if you're a dealer and have images, I'll be linking to your web site.

One jar that has popped up in a few emails is the new Boyd's Bear Halloween Jar.
Bruin Up Trouble Cookie Jar, the candy jar is pretty cute too!

Yikes, the link was messed up on the Little Red Riding Hood jar article. The correct link is below, these pictures are comparing two of the different molds for the jars.

Jay has a special sale on his jars for the next month or so. 20% off the sale price! The jars are wonderful and certainly not your run-of-the-mill pieces. Check them out before they're all gone. Remember 20% off!
