    Crumbs from my jar....
Welcome to our eleven new subscribers! All past newsletters are available on the archive page, see link on the left.

As I've mentioned an issue or so ago, this summer is one I will remember for a long time, I've always been told we're supposed to be bored or life isn't as interesting as we get older. WRONG! I think I am as busy now as I've been at any time in my life -- that's why the Cookie Jar Digest has been so sporadic the last three months. My resolution is to get on a regular schedule this fall. And you can help by letting me know if you see something new, interesting, on sale or at auction. All help is really appreciated!

I've been invited to attend the eBay Collectibles Summit again this year. It was interesting last year as we got to talk individually to the TPTB at eBay. They really listened to what we said (about twenty attended), but not sure if all was really heard. Anyway, I have a chance again to talk with them about eBay and how it affects us as collectors, the problems, things we would like to see done, etc. I've been on the soapbox many times about reproductions and folks selling them, as well as private feedback problems. I'll be on the soapbox again about these items, but if there is anything you would like them to hear -- let me know! I'll make sure they get the message.

Now, let's get to the jar and auction news!
    until next time,
    ~barb

    Cookie Jar Club Party/Show/Reunion
The Wintons have confirmed they will be attending! I believe it's the first time they've been in Oklahoma and we are delighted to have them come here. There will be lots of jars for sale, lots of antique malls to visit in the area, a party, a dinner and more. I've even heard of folks threatening to dress as their favorite jar? Would filling myself up with cookies count? If you live within driving distance, don't miss this time to meet other collectors and talk about our favorite collection -- cookie jars!

    Cookie Jar Auction Next Weekend
From Patty: "Charles and I have been cookie jar collectors for several years. On September 11 we will be having a Cookie Jar Auction at Kent Mickelson's Auction House in Freeman, Missouri. It will be a one day sale only and there will be close to 750 jars up for bid. There will also be salt and peppers and a few banks."

    Disney Halloween Jars
Several new jars that are not necessarily Halloween, but will fit in with the decorating! A new Villains jar, a new Sally & Jack Graveyard jar on showing up in the catalogs and on the Disney web site. There is also a new Pooh/Piglet/Eeyore jar for all you Winnie the Pooh fans out there. AND there is free shipping for orders over $75. The shipping offer expires Friday, so order before while you still have time.

Several of the other (16) jars on the web site are on sale and I was glad to see Donald Duck with banana showing up again. I gave that jar away several years ago, and have not seen it offered at a reasonable price since.

    Hobby Lobby Jars
Thanks to Joan E. for her tips on the Hobby Lobby jars.

I absolutely loved a cauldron jar with "feet", and lots of green bubbles, bubbling out the top. The jar was large and very cool, with lots of go-withs. There was a fun jack-0-lantern with a dressed up bear on top -- similar to the Hobby Lobby Halloween bear a few years ago, a few crock jars that were very colorful and the black cat candy jar (also with numerous go-withs) shown here.

Hobby Lobby has their fall ceramic and resin items on half-price sale this week! The cat jar wound up costing about $4.50.

    eBay's Top Ten Pottery
eBay's top ten in Pottery/Glass categories (for July) are now online. Most surprising to me? A Fiesta mixing bowl LID for over $5000.

    Fitz and Floyd
No one does holiday pieces like Fitz and Floyd and ever since I discovered their online store, I keep an eye on specials that are unbelievably good. AND this weekend they are having a special sale, not only can you buy things at good prices, but they will give you 25% off all orders over $25.

They have a new, very sweet, Halloween Bunny Blooms collection. A new jack o'lantern collection and some grey kitten pieces (not jars). I think the best buy of all is the Witch Hazel Chip N'Dip dish for $20. It originally retailed for $71, and is wonderful looking!

And for all you bank collectors out there -- the two Campaign Funds Banks are also on sale for half-price. Campaign Funds Banks

    Hartstone Pottery
Another new limited edition from Hartstone Pottery is a cute gingerbread man sipping his cup of ??? If you don't have any Hartstone Pottery items -- they are always very well-made and extremely heavy.

    Harry & David
Their annual Halloween jar is online -- this year is a jack-o-lantern with a witch hat. Harry & David

    Radko
Radko has some really terrific Halloween jars this year. Check out the Bewitching Sisters or for a different look, the sequined pumpkin! After looking at this page, my resolve has just disappeared.

    McCoy Pottery Auctions
Did you know there was a new kid in town? An auction site devoted to McCoy Pottery alone? Find out more about it from McCoyPottery.Com's webmaster, Jeremy Kinsey. Best of all, the auctions are continually monitored for fakes.
