    Crumbs from my jar....
    Crumbs from my jar. . . .

Welcome to our five new subscribers, all past newsletters are available on the archive page, see link on the left.

I love Halloween and really love getting ready for it with all the fun decorations, cookie jars, etc. This year one of my regular readers has really sparked my interest in the old diecut decorations. So I am trying to figure out ways to incorporate them into my other decorations, besides just hanging them in the window. I went looking through some old boxes and found a few pieces from the 1920's that would be worth about $150. if in excellent condition. Alas, their condition is fair, but that's okay, they still look neat and I only paid about $10. or so for both of them.

There is no Halloween decorating contest this year, but I do have some fun giveaways for any pictures used on the web site. If you're as inspired as I am by this holiday and decorate with cookie jars, collectibles or whatever -- think about sending some pictures to me.

    Until next time,
    ~barb

    Cookie Jar Club Party/Show/Reunion
It's only a month away and if you're in the Texas/Oklahoma/Kansas/Missouri area I sure hope you're planning to attend. We have folks coming in from Oregon, Missouri, Washington, New York, California, Alabama -- just to name a few states. Don Winton will be attending the show on Saturday to sign pieces, talk to collectors and sell some original sketches. The evening festivities are for club members only and will be fun -- I guarantee it!

    Hobby Lobby-Less?
I haven't bought too many new one jars this year, but really, really like the bubbling Cauldron (you can see it on eBay) at Hobby Lobby. In fact they have their Halloween ceramic items 50% off this week, so if you live near one check it out. I've asked folk on the Cookie Jar Club email list to step up if they can help fellow collectors by purchasing and sending jars to those that are Hobby Lobby-less.

    Halloween Jars
I've compiled a list of jars I've seen around town and on the Internet. I'm being really good this year and not purchasing much, I think I've finally hit the overload on Halloween jars, have no more places to put them! But I did give in again last when I saw the Neiman Marcus Black Cat jar. It's adorable!

    Lenox -- Snoopy
The Lenox catalog had a pretty Snoopy on the Doghouse cookie jar. And Woodstock is busy decorating the house with Christmas lights. The jar is all white, except for the lights, Woodstocks Santa coat and Snoopy's ears. Barb J. has already received her jars and loves it! Price is $49.95.

    Foley's/Mays Dept. Stores
I was in their a week or so ago, as they were putting out some holiday jars. They have a few Santa jars that are spectacular. I believe it's under the Home for the Holidays label. Santa was driving a train, if I remember right there was a cowboy Santa, a black Santa and the one that I will definitely be getting is Santa dressed as a Fireman with a Dalmatian dog next to him. The jars were very large and the price was higher than normal -- maybe around $100. But they have so many sales and 40% off discounts, I'll wait until one of those days and pick it up.

    Neiman Marcus
A nutcracker jar is in their Christmas catalog and it even comes with cookies. Price is $40.

    M & M Catalog
Two M & M jars are in their newest catalog, alas we've seen both of them before! The Christmas stocking with M & M's coming out the top is available again, as well as the Out of the Bag yellow cookie jar that has M & M World on it.

    Harry and David
Their jack-o-lantern jar disappeared for a while, now it's back on the web site, along with a bright snowman and a whimsical moose. Their shipping charges can be pretty high at times, so if you live near their outlet stores, it can be a lot more reasonable. The jars I've seen at the outlet stores don't have the cookies inside the jar, so you save money that way too. (Plus I've never liked their cookies!)

    Hartstone Pottery
Another new limited edition from Hartstone Pottery is a cute gingerbread man sipping his cup of ??? If you don't have any Hartstone Pottery items -- they are always very well-made and extremely heavy.
