    Crumbs from my jar....

Welcome to our ten new subscribers. All past newsletters are available on the archive page, see link on the left.

Have you visited the home page of this web site? I am trying something new -- I will be posting blogs and you have a chance to respond with comments, help or whatever. It's the place to check in-between newsletters to find out what's new. Right now I have several posts about items such as a cookie jar nightlight and cookie jar wall paper that are not mentioned in this newsletter.

The Cookie Jar Club's Show is over and although it was much smaller than we wanted it to be, many felt it was still sucessful. In fact it was voted that we continue doing the show in the Oklahoma City area for the next two years. The show will be at the Buchanan Antiques and Collectibles show, held around the third weekend of the month.

We really had a great time, with folks coming from both coasts and, of course many from the midwest. You now have plenty of time to plan to attend the next show in October 2005!
    until next time,

    HOLIDAY TIME 2004
Yikes, there are so many jars out right now. It's hard to pick where to start. So I'll just start with a list of what I have posted online so far. Walmart, of course, has a large number of jars available. There are many cute ones and inexpensive ones. I've been sticking with the advertising ones only, so those are the ones shown. But there are lots of others, both holiday and everyday. These are all listed on the Cookie Jar Index page
    Cooler Sack
    Coke Race Car
    Oreo Milk Can

I've also come across jars at Garden Ridge -- two different advertising jars, a Coke can and an Oreo glass of milk.
    Coca Cola Can
    Oreo Glass

Hobby Lobby has lots of jars, but the only one that has made it home with me is the look-a-like Rockwell Santa jar. It's very similar to the jar from 1997 that was sold by The Norman Rockwell Gallery. You can compare them both here:

    Sock Monkey Pin
is now available. Price is $8. which includes postage. The actual size is 1.25" high, it has a typical lapel pinback on it. If you're interested, just email me. Or you can buy it through Paypal using the Buy Now Link.
    Department Store Jars
Foleys (or perhaps it could be Mays in your part of the woods) has several Home for the Holidays Jars. They are all HUGE and all great looking. So great I wound up buying three of them. But beware, the store is known for having items constantly on sale. So even though the jars are marked as retail for $120. at the stores, they can usually be found in the $50. - $60. range with their numerous coupons etc.
    Western Santa
    Fireman Santa
Bobble Head Driving a Car -- Note: I have an extra of this jar on eBay right now.
    Kasting Auction
Have you checked out the jars in this weekend's auction? Over 440 jars and go-withs are up for auction.

    Clarice Bell Miller
Another jar I added to my collection is Santa Daddy by Clarice Bell Miller. She tells the story of how her dad played the role of Santa for his many children. He would bring a feed sack full of toys in after dinner. I loved the story and love the jar.

    Merry Mount Magic
This is a jar that I won in a silent charity auction. The more I look at it, the more I like it. And the rocking horse actually rocks! Now I just have to keep that fact secret from the two year old terror, uh make that grandson, Eli.

    M & M Jars
M & M character jars are showing up as usual. I've seen the little guys in winter garb, with various hats and scarves. Meanwhile Nancy A. found two that were in western wear. The one I wound up with is the blue guy with a brown cowboy hat and the other one is the green character in a white cowboy hat.
    Shrek and Donkey
Thanks to Nancy for the heads up on this jar -- a neat looking, talking Shrek jar. Right now it shows a sale price of $14.99 Shrek & Donkey
    Harry & David
They have a Moose jar and a Santa jar, but the good news is the Halloween jar is on sale for $20.
    Harry & David
    Target
Radko has a new and different Christmas tree jar. It's similar to last year, but the ornaments are more 3-D. Price was $20 and probably worth getting. Target also had four more jars that simple looking, but very cute. A penguin, two snowmen, a Santa and a Christmas tree. I loved the look of the Santa -- he was very retro looking. Yes, I probably wind up with him --- during a weak moment.
    Disney Jars
There are lots and lots and lots of Disney jars out. But one favorite that you could overlook is the Mickey and Pluto treat jar. Why would you overlook it, they consider it a pet treat jar instead of a cookie jar and it's with the pet stuff, not the kitchen stuff.

Also be sure to check out the BIG White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland, the Incredibles jar and the Disney Radko exclusive. It's wonderful looking in the catalog, but a little pricey at $200.

    And the Pin winner is
