Crumbs from my jar....
Welcome to our new subscribers. All past newsletters are available on the archive page, see link on the left.
So many cookie jars, so little time and mostly so little room! That's the feeling I've had lately when
looking around at eBay, Amazon, and Overstock auctions. It's just been a little overwhelming. We all complain
about how the prices have dropped on our vintage jars and I've gotten to the place where I rarely will
pay list price for a new jar, but we just can't blame it all on eBay. Some of the fault has to lay with
the manufacturers for overloading the market with jars. I know I bought more when I had fewer choices.
Now that the new choices number in the dozens, I've bought very few.
Now a question -- if you had only one Christmas jar for the holidays. ONLY ONE -- what would it be? Okay, you can give

I saw three different car jars at Walmart. Mr. Goodwrench and Lowes were two of the advertisers, it's escaping me right
now who the third one was. They were fun looking jars and very tempting to purchase.

A new book is out and I reviewed it last week. Lots of pictures, but unfortunately it has no index in the back,
which I can't believe!
Also the prices, well . . . .I'll let you read the review to see what my personal opinion of the prices

Talk about overloading the market. Every jar is so cute, it's hard to decide what to buy. So a few
years ago I would buy the two or three jars they offered, now they offer 20+ and what have I bought from the Disney
Store? Nothing! Although since the Nemo Fish tank jar is now really cheap and on sale, I will be buying that.
Check out the store -- several of the jars are down to $14.99! Plus there is free shipping until Sunday night
for orders over $75.
As for the Disney auctions, I have bought a few of them that particularly appeal to me. For instance,
Figaro jar -- those seem to be holding their value for now and not showing up at greatly reduced prices.

A friend has been looking for the M & M jars that have shown up on eBay this year. They are the typical figural guys, plain
no hats, scarves, etc. But the jars are not completely round, but flat on the front and back. Do you know
where they were available?

Okay, I slipped up and forgot to tell you about this jar in the last newsletter.
The Cozy Kitten jar designed by Curt Blanchard and sold by Grant Howard is a great piece. Very retro looking and a perfect
go-with for those who collect the original Cozy Kitten pieces by Holt-Howard.

eBay Exclusives
There is no doubt in my mind as to who makes the best holiday jars. Over the years, the winner
has to be Fitz & Floyd with their
eye to detail and usually intricate designs. I love Fitz & Floyd holiday jars, but I also find that so many
are similar to others in their collection that it often keeps me from buying when they look like ones I already have
in my collection.
That being said, the two jars in the eBay Exclusives program remind me of their jars
from yesterday. Simple designs.

Clarice Bell Miller
Another jar I added to my collection is Santa Daddy by Clarice Bell Miller. She tells the story of
how her dad played the role of Santa for his many children. He would bring a feed sack full of toys
in after dinner. I loved the story and love the jar.
