Crumbs from my jar....

Crumbs from my jar,

July went by so quick -- it's probably August by the time you read this! And if it's August, you know what that means, it's time for Holiday jars to start showing up. If you find anything special in the stores, drop me a note so that we can post it for others and SHARE information. I'll be in New York City in a few weeks for the Gift Show and hope to find out about a few manufacturers I've seen on eBay. It's been a little difficult getting information, so I guess I need to go to the sources.

Welcome to our seven new subscribers this month! You can read this complete newsletter, as well as past newsletter issues on the Newsletter Archive on The Cookie Jar Net.
Cookie Jar Net

This month did go by quickly, but part of it was two trips at the end of June and early July. We were in New York City for a vacation and then took a short cruise up to Canada. The weather was wonderfully rainy -- a real treat if you live in Oklahoma in July. Lots of fun, food and family! It's been hard to get back into the groove, but one thing I've been working on is adding lots of pages to the Cookie Jar Guide Index and trying to make it a little easier to find jars. I still have so many more to put on (like 1000) but it will be years before I am close to being finished. Question for you. It is getting so large it's hard for me to navigate just to add links and I am thinking of breaking it up alphabetically by page. I would be sure to cross link more, e.g. Bears on the B page, as well as Neiman Marcus Bears on the N page. Any better suggestions or ideas?
Cookie Jar Guide Index

I have been working on the Top Ten lists -- they are all printed off and it's been quite the job to get them tallied in a meaningful way. It's pretty apparent what the most popular three jars are, but it's those others that are giving me fits.

If Linda McP. is reading this, please give me a call and leave your phone number if I am not home. I've missed your calls and don't have a number to call you back at!

Until next time,
~barb

HAMBURGER HELPER
I've been watching this jar for a few months, determined to buy one. Unfortunately the latest price sort of took it off my buy list! There have been five that I've been tracking on eBay since February with an average price of $57. Although one collector (who has one) said she felt the price should be more in the $25. range.

Well, a few weeks ago another one came up on eBay -- with a final sales price of $1027. Yikes! It just goes to show that all bets are off when two folks want the same item at an auction. Another jar was later put on eBay, but did not meet the reserve and wasn't sold through eBay. So, I am back to looking for one, at closer to the average price! If you have an extra, at a reasonable price -- let me know.

COOKIE JAR PARTY 2005
The ACJA Cookie Jar party is rapidly approaching. Last year's event was smaller than we would have liked, but everyone had such a good time -- it was decided to stay in the same location and do it again this year. If you are interested in attending, being a dealer or just want more info -- keep an eye on the ACJA web site. Dates are October 22 & 23rd in Oklahoma City. Dealers will have booths at Buchanan's Market. AND if you are an ACJA member, watch out for the newsletter with a very special deal for current members!

NEW eBAY SCAM LETTER
This one had me wondering -- especially since I had recent circumstances where I was accused of not paying for an auction. It was a scam, but very well done. And that's not a compliment!

THE COOKIE JAR JUBILEE
I found this link in a very round-about way and no one I've mentioned it to, has any idea what I am talking about. There is apparently a celebration next weekend of Cookie Jars at National Ceramic Museum & Heritage Center. If you go, send me a note about it.

NEW DISNEY JAR
Disney characters in the Teacup Ride is a fun jar showing up on the Disney web site (not the auction). It really brings the feeling of the park and it should, it's part of the Disneyland Parks 50th Anniversary line. Also included is a Matterhorn Canister set, a Castle Teapot Set, glasses and dishes. It's enough to make me want to re-do my kitchen, but for any daughters or son reading this, don't worry -- I won't.

MORE DISNEY
There are some terrific sales on the Disney site and if you order $50, you'll get free shipping. You can get order a few jars at $6.99, $16.99 and no shipping.

GET MUCH MORE FOR YOUR JARS
One sure-fire way to get more money for your jars is the mystery auction. Have you seen these crazy auctions? People bid all sorts of money for something that they have no idea what they are getting. This cookie jar one was earlier this month, the common jar with some sort of mysterious valuable items inside.

HALLMARK ORNAMENTS
Two cookie jar related ornaments available from Hallmark this year. Sweet Tooth Treats #4 is a Penguin jar with three fishy cookies. And One Cute Cookie is an ornament/picture frame that is a cookie jar with the lid propped open with cookies. The cookie jar pictures are NOT up yet, but I do have some pictures of other favorites from this year's line.

MAXINE COOKIE JARS
And Speaking of Hallmark -- I recently re-did my Maxine jar page, linking all the Maxine jars online. Did you realize there were six different Maxine jars? I didn't until I started putting them all together.
