Crumbs from my jar....
NOTE:
IF you are an ACJA member and have not received any club newsletters lately, it probably means you haven't paid your dues.
If you need more information, please contact membership chairman Gary C. email address: aCJA-Member@twcny.rr.com.
The ACJA Cookie Jar Party/Reunion is next week! If you live near the Oklahoma City area, it would be terrific
if you came by. You don't need to be a club member to enjoy the festivities, although you will need to be
a club member to come to the Friday night party and Saturday night dinner. But it would be worth joining just
for those two things! Lots of cookie jar talk, door prizes and just plain fun.
The club will have several booths at Buchanan's Antique and Collectibles Market at the OKC Fairgrounds on the 22nd
and 23rd. Experts will be on hand to help with jar questions and appraisals. This is your chance to load up the jars you don't
know about and, hopefully, find out more about them.
We also need a few donations that will be given out to show attendees or used as a door prize. We'll be passing out information on
reproductions and fakes, stuff we want beginning collectors to know. If you can help with this, I need stuff asap.
If you're interested in more information, let me know. I'll send an agenda of what's going on. It would great to meet some of the folks in the Oklahoma,
Kansas, Missouri, and Texas area. All within easy driving distance.
If anyone has any prices realized from the two cookie jar auctions that were held in the last month and feel like sharing, please
send them on!
Until next time,
~barb

THE COOKIE JAR INDEX
- - - - - - - - - -
I warned you it was coming, the cookie jar index/value/guide has been updated and changed. I know it's going to
be a little harder to use, but I had to do it for my sanity. You have no idea how long the coding was on that
single page and trying to find the right place to insert text was getting more difficult. So, I've done it alphabetically.
There is still more work to do. For instance I want to list the IGA Circus Jars under "I" for IGA and under "C" for circus.
That is stuff I will be working on in my spare time. I would appreciate it if you would look the list over
and if you have any comments on how to make it easier to use, but still have it broken up -- I would love to hear them.

OREO JARS
- - - - - - - - - -
Rare? Not really, but what do you call it when you've been looking for a jar for over a year? Perhaps
hard-to-find ? Whatever you call it, describes two of the Oreo jars in this article. I've been looking for the Chef
Logo guy jar for over a year, only seen it for sale one other time. This time I was determined not to lose it
and I didn't. The other crock jar was also one that was pretty elusive, but only took me about six months before
one showed up that I could buy.

DISNEY AUCTIONS
- - - - - - - - - -
Rarely do they put their limited edition jars on sale, but they are now. At least they started at much
lower prices. So if you haven't picked up the Disney LE jars from this year, it might be worth checking out.
There were a few that were "iffy" for me, but this might change my mind.

Another sale going on of the jars that have been in stock for a while. I haven't bought the Jack jar yet, but it is
so mean looking that the price just might make this one right to buy now.
And.... a few new jars showing up! How about a Cinderella Castle -- hmm, sort of goes with their new release.

Also an It's a Small World jar that looks adorable.

Mickey and Friends has a Donald Duck, wonder if I need that for my Donald Duck Jar collection?

HALLOWEEN JARS AT HOBBY LOBBY
- - - - - - - - - -
Thanks to Joan for the tip on these jars. I've been checking Hobby Lobby every few weeks, but never saw any until last week.
There are three jars available and I believe they are on sale again this week.
Take a look at them, especially love the Boy Dracula, he came home with me.

And for those of you wondering just what is a Hobby Lobby? Recently I put an article/profile of the company
up on the Collectibles web site. It's an amazing story, truly a rags to riches story.
About Hobby Lobby
What we call the "Hobby Lobby" house (owners of Hobby Lobby) is right around the corner from us and is now empty and for sale. They've moved to
an even bigger home. For some reason I haven't been able to get my
husband to buy it for us. It has an indoor pool, "almost indoor" basketball goals and 10,000 sf.

WOLFE STUDIOS
- - - - - - - - - -
Another new feature on the Collectibles web site is an article on Kathy Wolfe, pictures of her
Big Boy (as well as others) jars and a timetable of the order they were made. It was always confusing
to me, when and what was done, so I went to the source.

POTTERY BY JD

I've received a few requests for JD's contact information in the last month -- the phone number listed all along is still the right
one or you can reach him via email. There is no web site at this time.

CORL'S KILN
- - - - - - - - - -
You might remember earlier this year that it was posted that Shirley is no longer producing cookie jars. She is
selling her stock and you can find a list of the jars still available along with sale prices on her web site.

HALLOWEEN CARDS/TAGS/GOODIES
- - - - - - - - - -
Send a Halloween card featuring a cookie jar, use some clip art for tags, decorations or whatever. Or find
out what just some of the old stuff is going for, it's amazing and almost outrageous.
