Crumbs from my jar....

October certainly has been a wild month for me, it started out with having a garage sale mid-month (sold $550 for those who are curious),
the following week was the Cookie Jar Club Reunion/Party with a bunch of folks here on Friday night. Saturday and
Sunday were busy visiting and chatting and sharing information, we had a dinner at Bricktown with lots of
prizes and a Sunday breakfast at Cattleman's Restaurant, an OKC landmark. This was followed by packing up eleven HUGE
boxes of jars to be sent to various folks, then trying to catch up with normal life for a few days until the next weekend.
Then it got even busier. Friday was working at Eli's (grandson) Halloween Carnival, son Jim came in from NYC, Saturday was a birthday
lunch (for me!) with the whole family, Sunday was Eli's birthday party at the house with another group of folks.
Halloween night we estimated around 500 trick or treaters (which means you stay outside the entire time) and
then yesterday Jim went back to New York. In between the above events I wound up making three Veggie Tale
costumes and 17 Veggie Tale trick or treat bags for the kiddies at the school and party. See below for pictures.
Tomorrow Robert and I leave for Florida.
Am I tired? Yes!
But enough about me, let's talk jars. There is so much new stuff out there, I'm not sure where to start.
I do have a request, if you see any new jars that I've not listed, please let me know. Pictures would be terrific, links
are great, but any information is very appreciated!
You might have heard about a huge cookie jar auction that was scheduled in November. When they started to work on the auction
it was discovered several items were missing, so the auction is being postponed until January.

WATERFORD HOLIDAY HEIRLOOMS GINGERBREAD JAR

Now this is one incredible piece and is my pick for the best Christmas jar I've seen this year.
I'll be adding it to my collection, just hope I can find it on sale somewhere!

THE COOKIE JAR INDEX
- - - - - - - - - -
I'm still working on the index, the biggest problem is making sure I cross-index the various jars.
If you see something
that needs additional entries, please let me know. Sometimes I look at it so much, I'm not sure what I am seeing. Cookie Jar Index

HAMBURGER HELPER

I finally got one! And it wound up being right around the average of what the jars have been selling for, before
the $1000. one was sold. More information on how it was available and pictures will be shared later in the month, it's
certainly a fun jar to have. Most have sold in the $50 - $75. range for those looking for a Hamburger Helper jar.

DISNEY AUCTIONS
- - - - - - - - - -
Over the past month there have been several new limited edition jars up for auction. I've seen a Tigger at the
kitchen table, Halloween Stitch and right now a Roger and Jessica Rabbit jar driving a car. It was nice to
see some new characters showing up and it looks like that will be a continuing trend.

Note: A Stitch Halloween jar has also been showing up on the Internet that is not a limited edition, it was available at the parks and
park stores.

NEIMAN MARCUS SANTA
- - - - - - - - - -
It's great, a Neiman's exclusive that apparently is just available through the stores. I've not seen it in any catalogs and
it's not online. If you collect head jars or Santa Claus jars. Price is $60. and includes
a tin of yummy Neiman Marcus cookies.

TARGET
- - - - - - - - - -
In the food area Target has three simple jars for $14.99 each. The snowman, strange looking bear and blue
penguin come with cookies inside the jars. In other departments Target has a Radko tree jar and there is another snowman jar that is very "busy" looking.
These two jars remind of ones in the previous year, not sure if they are exactly the
same or not.
And there is a third simple snowman in the dinnerware area that matches other pieces in a dinnerware line. So to recap, there are three snowmen jars, one strange bear,
a blue penguin and a Christmas tree jar. That's this week, who knows what will show up next.
Oh, they also had a very cute looking M & M green teapot that is the size of the M & M cookie jars.

CRACKER BARREL THANKSGIVING JARS
- - - - - - - - - -
If you've always wanted a Thanksgiving jar, but haven't found a perfect one yet -- check out the Cracker Barrel stores.
They have an adorable Lady Pilgrim. It's not a "cute" jar, a more realistic figure. Sort of reminds me of the Byers Choice
figures. Price is under $20. The store also has a Cornucopia jar, I think it's a jar, but the lid and opening
are fairly small. Again, price is under $20.
A canister set was available at Cracker Barrel with matching kitchen accessories. What makes this set special?
A retro looking Santa face was on each piece.

DILLARDS
- - - - - - - - - -
Dillards has a line called Noble Excellence and this year there are several interesting jars. A Snowman with a penguin, both standing
on a sled was marked $20, I kept wondering if it was mis-marked, it was very nice for that price. They also had
Santa decorating a Christmas tree -- a modern looking Santa.

WALMART
- - - - - - - - - -
Lots of jars showing up at Walmart, the best is the Campbell Soup boy. They also have a whimsical penguin in a jester hat, a John
Deere lunchbox and several Coca Cola jars. They have a Santa Coke jar that is $15, but the one I bought was
of such poor quality that I am taking it back. I know you can't expect Fitz and Floyd quality, but the jar
had a lot of paint flaking and I didn't really care for the way the face was painted.
