Crumbs from my jar....

The cookie jar world has been pretty quiet for me lately, this time of the year there is too much other stuff going on and jars take a back seat until January. But that doesn't mean I ignore them!

From the "Where Was I" department, I recently got a 1999 Saks William Joyce Santa Jar. I've never seen it before and if it's been sold online I guess I ignored the listing, thinking I had the only two ('94 & '95). Are there more than three Saks William Joyce Santas? Does anyone know?

Another recent acquisition -- the Adler Hershey's Snowman jar is adorable. The Hershey's bar looks so real you'll be craving chocolate. If you love advertising this is a must for your collection.

Don't miss the eBay discount code shown below, it only lasts for a few more days, but sure helps with a purchase.

The Milk-Bone Cookie Jar hasn't arrived here yet, but the ornaments have. The Milk-Bone Ornaments are terrific and really a big hit with the dog lovers I know. They can still be ordered and would be a great little goodie to have, even if you don't them in time for your Christmas tree this year.

Until next time,
~barb

Jar Notes. . . .

THE LYTLES
Thanks to Beverly S. for reminding the ACJA members (and me!) about an upcoming show. Keith told me about it, but I forgot! If you belonged to the ACJA you would have heard about this already.

From Bev: "If you receive the Food Network via cable or satellite, be sure to tune in next Tuesday night, December 20, at 7:30 ET/PT, 6:30 Central Time, for an episode of “Unwrapped”. I love that show! I saw this particular episode earlier this month and was thrilled to see a segment on there about cookie jar collectors Keith and Judy Lytle. The Lytles are ACJA members, and their Santa collection is amazing. I’m sure you will enjoy seeing it and hear them telling about their collection: http://www.foodnetwork.com"

INEXPENSIVE JARS FOUND IN THE STORES

  • MORE STAR WARS
Target also has Star Wars jars in their novelty food/candy section. Prices are in the $15. range.
  • M & M
Several new M & M pieces have been showing up this month. Fishing, hunting and camouflage dressed M & M's, think they're trying to appeal to the guys? Yep, I do!
  • CAMPBELL KIDS
The Campbell Kid jar available at Walmart is one of my favorite jars for this season. Nicely made, advertising and the price is terrific. There are still some available, check out the local stores and see if your store still has one. Don't miss the coordinating salt and peppers -- set was $3.97!
  • WESTERN MICKEY MOUSE
The western Mickey Mouse is a fun looking jar also available at Walmart for $15.99, but I did pass on the Walmart Santa/Coke jar. Not very well done.
TOOTSIE ROLL OWL COOKIE JAR
Thanks to Nancy for heads up on this new cookie jar. No clue on who made it, but I do love it! Check out Betty's Attic.

WHAT'S HOT IN POTTERY/GLASS CATEGORIES
What was the most most popular buyer search in November? How does it compare to November 2004? Do you even care? You should if you are a seller, find out just what folks are putting in that search box. Obviously you should not use these as keywords if it's not the item for sale, but perhaps you have some Art Deco stuff and didn't know how hot it really was. Well, it is -- especially in the Pottery and Glass Categories. McCoy is on the list too, but it's slipped from last year's position.

A COOKIE JAR A DAY
A cookie jar for every day in December shows in this oldie, but goodie feature. Although I've added quite a few jars since this was done a few years ago, these are still some of my favorite.

THUMPER & FLOWER LE DISNEY JAR
An adorable jar, limited to 350 is up for sale right now. Early this month was an exceptional Donald Duck on a train jar. Did you get one?
