THE COOKIE JAR SPOT: Just in case you've not been to The Cookie Jar Spot on About.com, it's the place to check out.
Past articles, resources, fun stuff, dealer listings and lots of polls. In fact, I'd appreciate it
if you took the time to vote in the polls. The newest poll is -- How many Jars did you buy in 2002?

LEPRECHAUN
Last issue I mentioned the Hobby Lobby Pot of Gold jar -- if you haven't seen it yet,
pictures are now up. Also have pictures of the Leprechaun from last year.

MAXINE #5
Maxine #5 is showing up at Hallmark stores across the country. They should be fairly plentiful. Hallmark
made plenty of Jar #4 and it's probably the same with this one. One day I'll actually get all five up together
on the same web page for comparisons.

JOANNE DELOMBA & LOTUS
An exciting new jar from Lotus -- reminds me a bit of the Sigma Peter Max jar (just a bit!).
This is a different looking jar and really think it will become popular.

WILLIRAYE STUDIOS
Three "big-time" cookie jar collectors went to Dallas and this jar was their pick as the show favorite.
Read about the artists and go to page two for the Uncle Sam jar.

COOKIE JAR LIBRARY
Buying a book or two is the best way to educate yourself on Cookie Jars. You can buy a whole library of jar
books for less than $100. It's the best investment you can make for your collection. And did you realize
the big difference in prices? I used to go with one "store" online, but no longer! This search engine also
gives you the total price, including shipping.

DISNEY
The Nightmare Before Christmas jar is on sale, PLUS they have a new Easter jar!
Piglet is holding a bouquet of flowers. Isn't this the first jar with Piglet alone?
The Mickey & Minnie Spring Flowers jar is still on the web site, along with the Eeyore jar.
Just put Cookie Jars in search box to have them all pop up.

HARRY & DAVID
There is a new Bunny jar out for Easter. The jar has a Fitz & Floyd look and comes with cookies.
A Fruit Basket jar is also available, along with the Noah's Ark mentioned previously.
I've been happy with the jars I've bought from the company, but their shipping charges are ridiculous.
$17.95 shipping for the Bunny jar!
I certain know that shipping has gotten expensive, but . . . .
it has to be something I can't live without to justify that extra cost. Check out the total prices before
hitting the send button. Another tip is to find a Harry & David Outlet store. You can usually buy the jars there
for around $30.

ROY ROGERS
On a recent (virtual) visit to the Museum Gift shop, I found some exclusive dinnerware. If you're a
Roy Rogers fan, this stuff is great! And they have a crock cookie jar as part of the line. The museum
is the only place it can be purchased.

PORTLAND, HERE WE COME: Posted on the Cookie Jar Club web site is Don Winton's proposed
sketch for his "last jar" to be auctioned off. It's a fun one and maybe I'll just start saving my money now.
Or perhaps I can keep away all those big-time Winton collectors??
The club has picked a hotel for our "headquarters" and reservations are already filling up. Make your reservation
early, especially if you want to be with the group. More about the event --

WANTED JARS
It's been very hard to keep up with all the notes and emails I get. To help with this, I've added a new
area to my personal site. It's just for your "WANTED JARS". The board will not be monitored, but will
be advertised in the newsletter when jars have been added. Right now someone started off by looking for
a NAPCO jar.

COLLECT WITH YOUR HEART, BUT BE SMART
After you have your books, there will be questions about jars you see advertised on auctions.
I hope no one here has been taken advantage of, but there are several dealers selling on eBay that are
really pushing the envelope. The biggest frauds right now are jars that are advertised as McCoy,
and the REAL MCCOY Company did not make them. The sellers get around this by saying jars have McCoy on the bottom.
Bells should go off when auctions are private -- so you can't see who is bidding; the number of bids is very
high and feedback has more than one or two negatives. There is even one seller that says you can't return
any items. HUH?? I wish I knew who was doing the bidding on these jars -- and why anyone on earth would bid
with all the above. These jars are going at outrageous prices and the number of bidders makes me wonder.
They have more bids on them then some very sought after jars.
I have been compiling a list of jars that have been advertised as McCoy and are not the real thing. This
will be posted on the web site early this week, along with a list of the figural jars McCoy DID make.
If you can help with this project, please let me know. I need some help compiling the list.
until next time,
bc
