Hi & Welcome
To all the new subscribers!

If you are new to my site, take the time to poke around.
I wear several hats. I run the Collectibles Site on About.Com, the home of The Cookie Jar Spot, a page full of links and information.

Take time to vote in the polls, check the lists of Dealers, browse through the old articles and learn HOW TO PACK A JAR for mailing!

I also have a personal web site, but more about that further down.

Vintage Ads & Pictures
I love to find the old pictures in catalogs of cookie jars for sale. It's great for documenting our jars and fun to look at too!

Check them out >>>

Portland, Ready or Not
Many members of the ACJA will be meeting up in Portland next month. It's not really a convention, and we really don't have our "own" show, but we will be in the midst of 1700 Antique & Collectible Dealers. How much better can it get?

The Beaver 2002
AND the ACJA (American Cookie Jar Association) is also proud to announce and show off their new cookie jar.
It's a Beaver holding a rose, symbolizing our meeting in Portland. The Beaver is the Oregon State Mammal and Portland is the City of Roses.

The jar is wonderful! It was made by Story Teller Arts from a sketch by Don Winton.

It's available to both club members and non-members, but members get a special price. By the way, the first
80 or so are the only ones that will have Portland, OR on the base -- due to customs regulations.

Henry Cavanagh & Ceramicars
I recently had an interesting phone conversation with Henry Cavanagh. I have three of his pieces in my own collection and wanted to know a little more about the artist behind the jars. We talked about his art, his life, how he started, and what he's up to now. Since we are fellow "Brooklynites" there was an immediate connection. And as Henry says, being from Brooklyn is really a nationality in itself.

Cookie Jar IQ
Last month "shadowlawn" had the correct answer on the IQ test. The correct answer for Cookie Jar IQ #5 is now up.

AND the newest Cookie Jar IQ test is up. If you can get it from one picture -- I will send you a small cookie jar goodie! (Not a jar).

New Jars
Not too much to report on new jars this issue, but Nancy did find a very cute "fish" jar at Garden Ridge Stores. She says it is two fish swimming side by side. (or something like that).

Nera reported a Pinata Donkey from Target and that jar is adorable. Price was under $20.

Harry & David catalog has several new jars, but my favorite is the Uncle Sam Bear jar. It's a bit similar to the Uncle Sam bear available from Hobby Lobby Stores.

Al's Gifts is a new dealer on my list and he has several jars that have been made specifically for his company.
A New York Taxi and an Alien head.

Crumbs From My Jar
I have a personal web site devoted to Cookie Jars and a few things about Advertising Tins. The tin bulletin board is fairly active, so if you like ad tins, check it out.

The picture on the top of this newsletter is one of several for sale on the Art Page. The prices are reasonable and the pictures are great for collectors.

Crumbs From My Jar is a new spot on my web site and it is there that I will start posting information about new jars, I've found out about, along with tips and hints.
This spot will be updated very frequently, so check back often.

There was some confusion on the Keebler Cracker Barrel and I talked with the dealer tonight. He will be ordering the jars tomorrow for those that were interested.

Until next time,
b.c.

Another Cookie Jar Spot

If you've read this far, email me and let me know. All those that respond by 6/17/02 will be in a drawing for a very special collectible that is cookie jar related.
