Important Portland
Just a few quick notes here for those that are going to Portland, OR this coming weekend. The ACJA will have our own area at the show with Don & Norma Winton as our very special guests. There will be free "appraisals", restoration advice and help, giveaways, raffles and of course lots of jars for sale.

This will be the first time for several dealers to be at a cookie jar show and I know I'm starting to get pretty pumped up. (It has been a long haul.)

If you have a chance to go -- don't miss it. And as further incentive, if you really need one, a free gift to everyone who stops by and tells me they are a newsletter subscriber.

Check out the ACJA web site for one of our club raffles. This is a combination Internet and Show raffle. You can buy tickets via Paypal for the Beloved Belindy jar and also buy tickets at the show. It was donated by Supnick and Corl.

WINTON Auction Jar - absentee bidding?
At 4 PM on Saturday the "final" Don Winton jar will be on the auction block. He says that after this one, he is not going to make any more cookie jars. And this one promises to be spectacular. It's reminiscent of the very popular and sought after Twin Winton Hillbilly series.

The jar is approximately 13 1/2" long, and is highly detailed with Zeke, Ma and three kids in the back seat.
Of course there are a few animals and chickens in the cage in the back. See a larger version of the sketch below.

YOU CAN do an absentee bid if so desired. Please email me with your phone number and your high bid.
I will contact you by phone if your bid has been received. If you do not receive a call back, the bid has NOT been received.

The Dinner
The club has about six dinner reservations still open for the Saturday night dinner. We are opening the last few places for non-club members. Dinner is $15. each and will definitely be worth it. Lots of door prizes and other surprises too. If you're going to be there, don't miss it.

Dinner will be at the Oxford Suites Hotel, Saturday night, at about 7:30.

Let me know if you are interested by email at barbc@thecookiejar.net

Other Cookie Jar News/Disney
Disney still only has three jars for sale on their web site, but now the Piglet jar is on sale for about half price. This is the only jar I'm aware of that is Piglet by himself. And this is a great price.

Nightmare Before Christmas is still on sale, just not as discounted. I've not bought this one yet and I know at some point I will be sorry.

Spiegals - M & M jar?
M & M jars are becoming as plentiful as Coke jars (well, not quite). The Spiegals catalog shows a Red jar that looks just like the candy jar that was available at Targets, etc. around Christmas and Valentines Day.
ONLY the size is much bigger! I haven't seen this larger jar anywhere else.

The company also has several of the Jonal jars still available. The LRRH, Tugboat, Cookie Time Clock and a rooster jar.

HSN - Sale
HSN has three jars available, one is the Eloise but marked way down to $20. The other is a sculpted tree that is marked down from $62.50 to $26.50 -- but no picture is available. Guess it's like a grab bag?

Dealer Spotlight - Fun to Collect
Fun to Collect is in the limelight this issue. The company has the appropriate name, everything they sell is fun stuff. Barbies, figurines, stuffed animals, super heros and of course, Cookie Jars. The web site is very easy to use and quick loading.

And prices are quite reasonable, even for some of the older "new" jars.

Crumbs in My Jar
Since I've been busy working with the ACJA on our Portland show, my own site has unfortunately been a bit neglected. I do plan to get very busy ATS. Which has been my slogan for about a month now, "After The Show".

It's time for a new contest, working on the polls and will show off some of the new cookie jar goodies that I will have for sale at Portland.

AND stay tuned for a free goodie that can received by just sending a SASE to me. More details in a few weeks.

until next time,
bc

The Cookie Jar Net

Several people read this far last time and are entered into a drawing. Anyone else reading this far today -- let me know.

And Wes was the only who guessed the IQ jar. It was the Rainforest Frog.
