It's been one of those months, lots been happening, but if you asked what I'm up to I couldn't tell you! Except for my new job -- baby sitting for four month old grandson two + days a week. I do know why women over 50 should not have children! And of course I have pictures. . .
For those new to the newsletter -- there are two different cookie jar web sites I refer to. One is The Cookie Jar SPOT, part of my larger http://Collectibles.about.com web site.
Link is on the bottom of this portion of the newsletter. I also refer to The Cookie Jar NET -- my personal website, that can be accessed by clicking on the title portion of this newsletter. Confused? So am I.
Anyway, onto jars. I've received some catalogs and will be posting images from them in the next few weeks - there were a few surprises, especially the fact that Clay Art is getting back into licensed jars.
I've also been busy working on an Index Page of jars and values. This is something I should have started a long time ago -- guess it's never too late. Check it out when you have a chance and if you disagree with me, let me know. The one good thing about an online guide -- mistakes can be easily rectified.
Clark's Cookie Jars & Collectibles has the Moon Pie jar for sale and it's a bit cheaper than the catalog I mentioned last issue.
The Leprechaun candy jar shown is from Hobby Lobby, it's 7.5" tall and issue price is $10.95. I have an extra that I will sell for cost (plus shipping) email me if you want it. Be sure to click on the image to see full picture to be sure you want it.
It's been a few years since I found anything great in jars from Big Lots -- but last week I was delighted to find a girl bunny with a flower cart. It's different than anything I've seen before. AND the price was under $10. I couldn't pass this one up. I will be putting a picture of it on The Cookie Jar Spot later today.
Make sure to check out the Cookie Jars Wanted Bulletin Board -- several new requests are up. I have also started a bulletin board (today) for folks to list jars for sale. Read and follow the rules for posting. These are listed on The Cookie Jar NET website -- click on link above.
Grant-Howard's new line of cookie jars are designed by Curt Blanchard. There are several that really caught my eye! These are available at retail stores -- or if you can't find them. Blanchard is also selling the jars at retail price.
Have no idea about this jar, a metallic finished Abingdon Hippo? What about you? Take a look at the larger by clicking on the image, and while you're at it, also look at the dog picture on the Junk or Jewel page.
If you have any information to share, send me a note.
Thanks to the Tuckers and Kent Mickelson for the list of sale prices from the Mickelson January auction. Not all jars were listed, just the ones that I felt were of interest.
Not sure if you've noticed, but I've started doing a link to a "printable" page for price pages. Clicking on that link will bring up a page without all the (junky, ink consuming) ads and text that are on the page.
Albert Elovitz, of Albert's Gifts, is a big supporter of the ACJA and has donated numerous items for their last meeting in Portland. So, I thought I would mention a big sale Albert is having on his site. I made a special page to show some of the jars that are on sale to make them easier to find. Check out his website for all the goodies he has, including a few jars that are unfamiliar to me.
How many jars are in your collection? Have you voted in the poll on The Cookie Jar Spot? Vote and tell me what the total number of votes are in the poll (NOT YOUR TOTAL) when you vote (total shown on the bottom). The first and fifth answer will win a Humpty Dumpty pin.
