    Crumbs from my jar....

    Welcome to our four new subscribers, you can check out the past newsletters on the archive page on The Cookie Jar Net. A short newsletter this issue, we're getting ready to go out of town, but I wanted to mention just a few things.

    Check out the local Targets and Walmarts for their new crop of jars. Target had several new holiday jars that went with a lot of different serving pieces. They ranged from a modern looking snowman square crock to a woodland looking Santa. Walmart had quite a few jars, I especially like the Nascar Silver-looking Trophy for $15., and the bear and moose padding a canoe -- a very large jar that had a two piece lid, was attractive, best of all only costs $10.

    This week I have several links to Clark's Collectibles of jars that I think are pretty fun and didn't even know about until we stumbled over them. If you have anything special or new on your web site, or a special sale, let me know. I can't put it in the newsletter if I'm unaware of it.

    If you tried to subscribe to Cookie Crumbs, the "more-often" newsletter, the form didn't work! So just email me with the words Cookie Crumbs in the subject and I'll add you to the list.

    I'll be going cold turkey with the computer for the next few days. So I won't be answering any emails, etc. until about a week from now! Take care . . .

    Until next time,
    ~barbara

    PY/Miyao
    Finally a book that really explains who's behind the 'Made In Japan' stamp found on our vintage ceramic pieces. Lefton, E.S.D., NAPCO, Enesco, Mikasa -- if you're a collector of any of these company products, just go ahead and buy the book now. You'll eventually get it and you might as well start enjoying the PY/Miyao book now! PY/Miyao

    Another Auction/Joplin
    Thanks to the Hustons for the heads-up on this auction. When I talked to the auctioneer he didn't have a list by lot number, so not sure how it will work or if they will even take absentee bids. He did say there are close to 600 jars to be auctioned, the "cheaper" ones will be sold on Friday and the better ones on Saturday. He mentioned that Red has helped with the sorting, so they should be divided "right". Now.. if the Hustons will just have everyone over for dinner . . . . . . November 14/15

    Spooky Poohs
    New pictures up on the web site, all my Halloween Poohs. I have six Halloween jars with Pooh, if you have any not shown, or know of any not shown, please let me know.
    Spooky Poohs

    Portmeirion Santa
    As usual too many holiday jars to pick from. But I did see an unusual one for those that collect Portmeirion. Santa is holding a sack in front of him, with tiny little Portmeirion botanical dishes in it. And even though I am trying to limit my Holiday jars to just two or three new ones, I just might wind up getting it. I liked the idea of the way it was done. Now if a company would do one with a Santa holding CJ's in his sack! (Curt ??)Price is in the $50 - $60. range. I couldn't check it any closer my arms were full.....very full.

    Disney
    Another new Disney jar -- Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Huey, Dewey and Louie (sp?)are also on the jar! And one of the many jars mentioned last issue is on sale, Kidnapping Sandy Claws.

    Lefton Retro
    I had no idea these even existed until I came across them on Rich's web site. They are really fun looking and if they go the way of the Dept. 56 Retros a few years ago, could go up in value quickly. Rich reports that they are selling quite well.
    >>> Lefton Retro Jars
    Santa Chef Jars
    And although there are numerous jars out on Rich's and Past n'Presents site, I am only mentioning the ones that really are special (to me). Nancy called me the other day about two wonderful new jars she found in a local store, but had no idea what it was. She said it was really great and will be buying it. We did some research and couldn't find out any more info.. Until she saw it on.... yep, Rich's web site. Scroll down to the Chef Santa jars by Kaldun & Bogle.

    Dept 56 Cowboy Santa

    Uncle Mistletoe
    He's back... and his wings are not an add on! It's a great jar, well made and a bargain at $30. Where do you find it? Online or in the catalog only! Uncle Mistletoe

    Cookie Jar Index
    I never realized just how many jars I have mentioned over the past few years and I'm still trying to get them all up on the Index. It's been updated this weekend with about 25 or so additions.
    >>> Jar Index

    Just for Fun
    Send me the name of the jar I've been looking for and did not even mention once in this newsletter. I'll have a drawing of all the correct entries with a cookie jar collector mug as the prize. Important - put "drawing" in the subject so I won't miss your entry.
