Crumbs from my jar....

It's almost 80 degrees here in today -- daffodils are blooming and weeds are sprouting up! It's put me in the mood for Spring cleaning, no mean feat when it comes to cleaning hundreds of jars on display. Part of it is forced spring cleaning as we're having new flooring installed in my office with lots of books and New York jars.

And the biggie -- in the Raggedy Ann guest room, it will take me days just to move all those jars out of there. Want to buy a jar? I just might be ready for them to go cheap so I don't have to move them two or three times! Frappr might not be such a good idea if you live nearby (see below), I might be tempted to make a few phone calls to help with the moving!

Special thanks this month goes to Candice for her help in sending me LOTS OF LINKS of interesting jar auctions. It's nice to have another set of eyes.

I'll be in NYC the end of March and will have a free day to mess around a bit. Are there any spots that might special in cookie jars?

Until next time,
~barb

19% of "McCoy" jars are Fakes on eBay
I know I'm not telling most of you anything new, but I decided to do a little counting and see what kind of numbers I could come up with. The research is completely unscientific but interesting nonetheless. I checked out about 800 eBay cookie jar auctions that were marked McCoy. Out of those 800 jars, approximately 19% were not McCoy! Read more and I invite your comments!

FRAPPR
I started a little map a few weeks ago and so far a handful have signed up. It's just a fun thing to see where other collectors live -- as of this moment in time 12 states are represented! I've enjoyed seeing where folks live and a little more about their collections. It's safe -- I DO NOT WANT anyone to post their last names! How about adding your profile?

SOLID GOLD PUSS N' BOOTS
Interesting auction -- I know absolutely nothing about gold Shawnee jars. If you have information to share, please do so. Thanks to Stephanie for the link!

OLD WOMAN IN THE SHOE JAR
Stacy is looking for this jar, if you have one for sale, let me know and I'll forward the note to her.

M & M BAKER JAR
I got a new M & M catalog last week with a new cookie jar. An M & M character as a baker. It's cute, not 100% sure if I will buy it or not.

DISNEY AUCTIONS ARE BACK
They're no longer in conjunction with eBay, but their own separate venue. About time, I couldn't believe that it took Disney that long to go their own way. They had to be paying tremendous fees, but were so constricted with what they could do.

PRICES REALIZED/CALIFORNIA ORIGINALS
Take a look at some of these prices paid in February 2006 for Cookie Jars. Spotlight this month is on California Originals Cookie Jars. As always a big thanks to Bill Correll for the generous use of his eBay images and if you haven't checked out his auctions, they're just about the best ones on eBay for jars, always special jars! His eBay id is cookiejar500.

DISNEY CASTLE JARS
With all the wonderful Disney jars that have been sold, I only know of four different Disney castle jars. Personally I would love to see an over the top one, with lots of glittery gold and intricate details. But until then, I'll just enjoy these. Obviously, if you know of any others, please let me know!

BUY, KEEP OR SELL?
This is a terrific new book by Judith Miller -- if you love to collect, you'll love this book. She covers a large of variety of funn collectibles, including a few pages on cookie jars!

TOP TEN MISTAKES MADE BY COOKIE JAR COLLECTORS
Remember, there is no wrong way or right way to collect, always collect what you love and as a long-time collector says -- Collect What Makes You Smile! Just think about these points and maybe it will save you some money and energy down the line.

KELLOGG'S SNAP, CRACKLE AND POP
Great looking jar showed up on the Internet -- very detailed and one that I am excited about. Barron's Catalog

BUT after further investigation, I've found out if you order via phone at the price comes up twenty dollars cheaper. Why they would have one price on the phone and a different one on the Internet -- who knows? Phone - 800-538-6340; Item #22D53B
