Crumbs from my jar....

Let me tell you, it's been an interesting few weeks here at the Crews' home. Nothing bad happening, but so much stuff going on it's worn me out! In hindsight, I should never have even thought about re-doing the floors in my office, hallway and Raggedy Ann room. We're talking about moving a few hundred jars on display, many dozens of crates of Christmas ornaments, feather trees, craft supplies and anything else you can think of that had to be moved. Well, the floors are in -- but the stuff is not put back yet. Watch my eBay auctions as I am definitely using this exercise to clean and purge. A lot.

Response has been absolutely tremendous to the Green family. Because of all the above going on, I've not been able to do a complete update yet, but it's been amazing. I'll have a complete report in the next issue that will be coming out on time at the end of the month, but just have to give a few highlights. Approximately $700. in cash and gift certificates were donated to the family, along with many cookie jars. Pat has been overwhelmed with jars including Boyd's Bears, advertising jars, Looney Tunes, McCoy and more. Generous collectors have also sent her some outstanding jars including a Happy Memories Cracker Jack and a Brush Little Red Riding Hood. But more to come on our Cookie Jar Shower in the next issue.

Until next time,
~barb

For a short article I am doing -- what is the most expensive cookie jar you have bought/have/or sold. PORK BARREL - TEAPOT MUSEUM?
Many collectors dream of one day housing their treasures in a museum, but most of us have never thought about asking the government to help! The teapot museum in Sparta, North Carolina is getting government funds to the tune of $500,000, causing John McCain to call the "teapot museum case a 'really egregious' example of what is wrong with the budget appropriations process." I would guess he's not a collector. The Sparta Teapot Museum will house the Kamm Collection of over 6,000 teapots with a value of exceeding $5 million.

ADORABLE DISNEY DUMBO JAR
An adorable Dumbo jar is available online at the Disney Store (note there is also a different one available on Disney Auctions). Dumbo is two-sided and a look back to the turnabout jar of the 1940's, with just slight differences. The jar is a limited edition of 1000 and lists for $69.95.

Take advantage of a Disney sale to get this jar, for instance right now (until April 17th) is 15% off sitewide, plus free shipping of purchases over $75.

19% of "McCoy" jars are Fakes on eBay
I know I'm not telling most of you anything new, but I decided to do a little counting and see what kind of numbers I could come up with. The research is completely unscientific but interesting nonetheless. I checked out about 800 eBay cookie jar auctions that were marked McCoy. Out of those 800 jars, approximately 19% were not McCoy! Read more and I invite your comments!
