Crumbs from my jar....

So much going on, I don't know where to start! First of all, the "Send an eMail, enter the Contest" will continue through this weekend. All emails I get through Monday noon will be entered. Prizes will be posted at the time I announce the winners and the winners will get their pick of stuff that includes cookie jars, cookie jar pictures, etc.

Lots of news, so read through to the end to find out what's been going on in the Cookie Jar World.

Until next time,
~barb

WATCH FOR WINTON JARS
The Wintons will be offering several of their jars and assorted other pieces from their collection for sale. The jars will be offered in an auction format, more like a silent auction where you can email your bids. Lots to be worked out on this, watch for more information in the next week.

DISNEY STUFF -- If I only knew then, what I know now.... or something like that.
IF I was starting to collect jars now, I think I would focus on Disney Limited Edition jars. Most appear to be holding their values, if not actually rising in values. The designs are great and are truly limited in the 250 - 350 range. EXCEPT for the newest one that is limited to a very low number of 150.

The Three Patriots Liberty Bell is limited to 150 and is terrific, but so are most of the others. New jars in the last month include Beauty and the Beast, Three Little Pigs and Uncle Scrooge driving his truck full of money.

WHAT'S YOUR BEST COOKIE JAR MEMORY?
Every email I get sent to CookieJarCollector@gmail.com will get another entry in the May Cookie Jar Contest and the best answer will get a cookie jar pin! Remember, please email me at CookieJarCollector@Gmail.com it helps me keep the entries all in one place. Your entry may be selected to be on Collectibles.About.com in the Collector's Story section! Okay, maybe that's not really an incentive, but you could be "famous", sort of.

INMAN/JOHNSTON AUCTION
The auction HAS NOT been rescheduled yet, but according to Randy Inman, the date should be set soon. The last I heard, they were looking at a fall date. As soon as I hear anything, I'll be letting folks know. I know several collectors have talked about meeting at the event, therefore it's important to get the date ASAP.

TIAS TOP TEN
It's been a long time, but Cookie Jars are #1 again on the TIAS Top Ten List. This is a list of the top ten search terms used on TIAS. It doesn't mean this was the most popular item sold, but what people were looking for.

HOUSE IN THE WOODS AUCTION
Approximately seventy jars will be auctioned off next week. Preview auction will be on Thursday. Phone bids will be accepted.

KELLOGG'S 100TH ANNIVERSARY
In the last newsletter I mentioned looking for the Kellogg's red and white canister looking jar. Peppy send me to a place online selling them at very good prices. But that's not all that's available. IF you love advertising jars -- you will love another little jar they had. Do you remember Milton the Toaster?

It's only $15. and super cute. Milton the Toaster jar is very cute and a real winner! It looks like Outback is temporarily out of the jar (thanks to the collectors on Barb's Notes Newsletter!) but will be getting more in. IF you wish to order from them, give them a call and they will let you know when it's available. Ask to speak to the person who takes care of the web stuff. I'm sure lots of other places will be selling the jar too, but the reason I like Outback is they have the lowest prices and very low shipping prices. I got two large boxes and shipping was $9.95! And packing was terrific too.

MICKELSON AUCTION RESULTS
Thanks to Red and MaryAnn Huston for the results from last month's auction. Red says the prices were CHEAP CHEAP and it was definitely a buyers market.

WALLACE AND GROMIT TEA CADDY
If you're familiar with the movie, you'll love this jar -- if you're not, you'll wonder what it's all about. I've watched the movie with my grandson and must admit that even if it's not one of my top picks, I'll probably wind up getting the jar from Cardew. I did chat with them and the shipping price to the US is £15.

LONDON UNDERGROUND JAR
For some reason I wound up on the Signals web site, no idea why or how I got there, but the good news is a new-to-me jar that is (I assume) the logo for the London Underground. It's got a lot of red, so of course I love it. But it's on sale, so I have a feeling the supplies are limited or they are closing it out. l

WHAT ON EARTH
Another great tip came in this month -- take a peek at all these jar on sale. I liked them at full price and really like them at these highly discounted prices.

GARAGE SALE ADDICT
Are you a garage sale addict? Do you find jars or other goodies? A few weeks ago I found several "good" jars at a garage sale, all under $5. each and I can't believe I passed them up. But I am still proud of myself for sticking to my guns for now. That is trying to buy jars that only appeal to me, even if the price is too good to be true. I did find some other buys that made up for it. This past week's poll is about garage sales -- please take the poll! And I would love to hear about your best cookie jar bargain?
Garage Sales

And a few of my bargains. from the past month or so, including the Abingdon Pineapple found for $22.50 at a flea market.
