Crumbs from my jar....

Contest winner is announced below, so read down to the bottom!

Last fall I wrote a few reviews for eBay and I'm close to moving up to the next tier of reviewers. It would be greatly appreciated if I got some help getting over the next hurdle. Further down the newsletter, I have links to the reviews, if you read them and feel they are helpful, please vote. Moving up will help make the Guides more visible, which will help combat the fraud issue.

Until next time,
~barb

Have a Happy Fourth!

DON WINTON BLOG
Don and Norma have joined the rest of the bloggers and now have their own blog. Be sure to post a comment or just stop by and say hello.

When you are there, click on the cookie jar images on the right hand side of the page. It will take you to a Flickr page we set up for them. There are several cookie jar treasures direct from the Winton Collection for sale. Price is listed below the pictures of the ones that are still available. If you're interested in any, just go back to the blog and email the Wintons.

WARNING -- there is one item I am particularly interested in and if it doesn't sell in the next few days, I'm buying it!

DISNEY LE JARS -- As mentioned in the last newsletter, the Disney limited edition jars typically hold and increase their values after the edition has been sold out. I put a few prices realized up on the web site. Including a few that have sold for double the value and are still available on the Disney Auctions web site. . . . I sure hope no one reading this is paying more than double, when a little bit of research will get you the jar at issue price!

If the jar is a recent issue and is not currently on the DisneyAuctions.com web site, don't worry, it most likely will show up again soon. I am pretty sure none of the editions of the last six months has sold out yet.

Meanwhile, have you seen the new Lady and the Tramp jar? Or The Evil Queen? The jars are NOT on the Disney Auctions web site at the time of this newsletter, but will be offered again -- probably fairly soon. Disney Picture Gallery

KABOODLE
eBay recently forged a partnership with Kaboodle to allow collectors a chance to do a MyCollectibles Page. I decided to try it out and see how it works. First of all -- it's extremely easy to do. ANYONE that is reading this newsletter and has any of their collection on their computer can do it in a very short while. I guarantee it! I put my page up in less than fifteen minutes. It's not for everyone, for instance if you are web-savvy and have your own web site, you probably wouldn't want to mess with this. Although it does have advantages of getting more exposure for your web site.

Check out my page and if you decide to put one up, let me know and I'll link to it. While you're at it, if you "like" my page, please vote for it. Please??
Chocolate Chip's Cookie Jar Collecting

While I am soliciting votes -- how about popping over to my Cookie Jar Reviews the next time you are on eBay. I would also appreciate some votes there. I would like to move up to the next tier of reviewers, it will help bring these pages up when folks are clicking on auctions that have the same keywords. It's one small way to combat fakes and frauds on eBay.

OT: DISNEY DIECAST CARS
Will trade Cookie Jars for the new Mattel Disney Diecast cars! Yes, Eli and I are getting desperate here, email me what you have and what you're looking for!

LATEST GARAGE SALE FINDS
Added a few new finds to my Garage Sale Picture gallery, including a blue cobalt glass jar filled with marbles, but has Mills Bakery and Homestyle Brand Cookies molded on the side of the jar.

PEE & POO TOYS
Okay, nothing whatsoever to do with cookie jars, but Jim posted this on his blog and I had to put it up on the Collectibles site. I've not had a single comment on it so far, so I can't decide if it just grossed lots of folks out. Or they thought nothing of it. Of course my daughter decided these would be perfect to go with a jar that JD James gave her a few years ago that she still displays in her bathroom and loves. (To put it politely it was a pile of manure with a big fly on it.)

MAY WINNER
The winner of the May drawing is Peg Newton. Peg -- please email me from the same email used to subscribe to the newsletter, your mailing address and your choice of the Disney Castle Jar or a set of Cookie Jar pins, including the Humpty Dumpty Pin, Smiley Pig and Sock Monkey pin.

COOKIE JAR AUCTION - JULY 4th
If you live near Rush Spring MN, part of the Hackens collection is going up for auction. Although the web site is a little hard to navigate, some of the jars are pictured.

JARS FOR SALE
Two collectors are trying to sell about fifty jars each. If you're interested in a list of jars, email me and I'll get you more information.

SUMMER CONTEST
The summer cookie jar contest is starting today. Every time you answer one of my question or respond to something in the newsletter you'll be entered in the drawing. Since this contest will end on August 31, the winner will have their choice of a seasonal fall or Halloween jar.

There are three different ways to enter. You can do all three ways or just one. It doesn't matter.

  1. Email me the name of any jar that is pictured on My Kaboodle Page
  2. AND/OR

  3. Another way to get an entry is to vote on my eBay Guide pages -- tell me you voted and your name will be entered. Although I won't be able to tell who voted, I can tell if a vote was cast. Three votes equals three entries.

  4. AND/OR

  5. And the last way to enter is to send me a note, telling me what your Holy Grail cookie jar is. I used to have a long list of Holy Grail jars, but now am down to just three or four!

Remember all contest entries must be sent to the cookiejarcollector@gmail.com email address.

From Last Issue:
WALLACE AND GROMIT TEA CADDY
If you're familiar with the movie, you'll love this jar -- if you're not, you'll wonder what it's all about. I've watched the movie with my grandson and must admit that even if it's not one of my top picks, I'll probably wind up getting the jar from Cardew. I did chat with them and the shipping price to the US is £15.

INMAN/JOHNSTON AUCTION
The auction HAS NOT been rescheduled yet, but according to Randy Inman, the date should be set soon. The last I heard, they were looking at a fall date. As soon as I hear anything, I'll be letting folks know. I know several collectors have talked about meeting at the event, therefore it's important to get the date ASAP.
