A recipe from the vaults ... old and authentic!

Swedish Meatballs

 

3/4 lb ground beef*
3/4 lb ground pork*
1 tsp salt
pepper to taste
1 cup bread crumbs
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
sprinkle of nutmeg
2 TB chopped onions
flour
1 can beef broth or consomme

*If veal is available, use 1/2 lb each of beef, veal and pork.

  • Combine all ingedients except onions, flour and beef broth.
  • Make into small meatballs and brown
  • Remove from pan, add onions and brown in the drippings.
  • Add beef broth and meatballs back into pan.
  • Bring to a boil, add a little bit of flour/water to thicken gravy and simmer until gravy is thick.
